THE ITINERARY

Day 1 - WELCOME

  • Welcome to Bali! You'll be picked up by our local driver, Putu, and transfer to our hotel.
  • Enjoy the swimming pool at the hotel and get settled in whilst we wait for the rest of the group to arrive.
  • If the sunset looks promising, we head to the rice terraces nearby the hotel for our first photography session.
  • We enjoy a group welcome dinner to discuss our plans for the week.

Day 2 - UBUD + BEYOND

  • An early start today as we drive to Tegalalang Rice Terraces for sunrise. Here we'll document the landscape and local life found in this incredible part of the island.
  • Next stop - Goa Garba, one of my favourite temples in Bali. If we are lucky, we will witness traditional ceremonies taking place at the temple and river below.
  • After a quick rest and lunch, we'll visit the Serayu Pottery Shop for a portrait photography session in the afternoon.
  • In the evening, we will have a photo review session to see which skills need working on for the rest of the trip.

Day 3 - KINTAMANI

  • Sunrise in Pinggan village, with views over Mount Batur. Hopefully, we will be lucky with the weather, as the low fog here makes the view magical.
  • After sunrise, we head to Batur Lake to photograph the agriculture and life on the lake.
  • Breakfast overlooking the volcanic craters before we make our way back to Ubud to refresh.
  • In the afternoon, we check out Pasar Badung, the biggest market in Denpasar. This is my favourite place for street photography on the island.

Day 4 - tampaksiring

  • Sunrise in Tampaksiring with misty views over the rice fields and volcano.
  • We then photograph a local farmer-turned-coconut tree climber, and enjoy a fresh coconut amongst the rice fields.
  • After breakfast, we drive to Sidemen where we will spend the next 3 nights.
  • If the weather is on our side, we explore the village of Selat for sunset, with views of Mount Agung.

Day 5 - SIDEMAN + SELAT

  • Today we explore the small villages in and around Sideman and Selat. We photograph the beautiful street leading to Mt. Agung, light rays as the locals begin their day, expansive rice fields, stone workers and local village life. This is the area of Bali that I am most familiar with, and I can't wait to show you around!
  • We will be spending 3 nights here to maximise our photo opportunities in the area.
  • In the evening, we have our first editing workshop of the trip.

Day 6 - SIDEMAN + SELAT

  • Our second day in East Bali sees more light rays, rice fields and traditional village life.
  • If time is on our side, we edit together again in the early afternoon whilst the sun is high in the sky.
  • By mid-afternoon, we make our way to Lahangan Sweet ready for sunset. This spot has one of the best sunset views on the whole island.

Day 7 - SIDEMAN, SELAT + Kelingking

  • On our final morning exploring Sidemen + Selat, we make sure we have covered all the photography spots in the best light possible.
  • We then take the boat over to Nusa Penida at lunch time, check in and spend the afternoon at Kelingking, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. First you'll be able to shoot from the top of the cliff, with the option of hiking down to the beach, too.

Day 8 - SEAWEED FARMERS

  • In the morning, we shoot the seaweed farmers in Penida as they go out for the morning harvest. Seaweed farming re-emerged on Penida + Lembongan during the pandemic as many locals lost their jobs in the tourism sector and had to return to their roots.
  • We then take a private boat over to Nusa Lembongan, have lunch and shoot the seaweed farmers there, too.
  • Sunset boat trip back to Penida.
  • We enjoy our final dinner together overlooking the ocean.

Day 9 - NUSA PENIDA

  • On our final morning of the trip, we enjoy a photowalk along the coast and capture the local life on this tiny island.
  • After breakfast, we have our third and final editing session of the trip.
  • Midday boat back to Bali where we say our farewells.
  • Our drivers can drop you at the airport or to your next destination if you're continuing your adventures in Bali.

Hey, I'm Jord

I'm a full-time travel and landscape photographer from the UK, and I have been based in Bali, Indonesia, for the past 6 years.

During this time, I've racked up tens of thousands of miles on my motorbike in search of the island's best-kept secrets.

Be it the fascinating ceremonies, winding rice terraces, towering volcanoes, or palm-lined beaches, I can't wait to share this journey with you in the place I so fortunately call home.

The trip is first come, first served, and you must pay the deposit to secure your spot. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to me by email: hello@jordhammond.com
